Raised in California by a Danish "slagter" & restaurateur, The Veggie Gourmet, Siri Devta
was cooking and working in her father's restaurant as soon as she could
(barely!) see over the counter. Becoming a vegetarian at age 14 turned
everything on its ear. The most important lessons though, never change,
"A good meal is made great with loved ones to share it with."
"My love
of cooking has taken me to cooking for my
spiritual teacher, Yogi Bhajan, his family and guests. Under the
expert eye of his wife Bibiji, I learned not just the art of
cooking Indian cuisine, but also the grace of serving.
I have had the opportunity to prepare meals in a variety of settings,
from small soirees to banquets of up to 300 people for my
community as well as dignitaries, ambassadors and politicians from all
over the
world.
Now I enjoy cooking for my amazing husband and our son, as
well as for our community of Guru Ram Das Ashram and Baba Siri Chand Yoga
Center (Yoga at The Ashram) of Millis. With a deepening interest and love of yoga, I have expanded
my range to include lighter meals that support a yogic lifestyle.
Since moving to Millis, I have catered several yoga workshops and our biggest event, The New England Fall Yoga Festival."
With an accessible and humorous teaching style, I strive to make my
students the gourmet in their own kitchen.
